The publication of the specifications that serve as the formal launch of the bid process for the building and operation of the Regiotram de Occidente commuter train in Bogotá, Colombia has taken place.
The suburban railway will take just 48 minutes to go from western savannah communities like Facatativá, Madrid, Mosquera, and Funza to the heart of Bogotá. The project will involve the building of 17 stations, 8 of which will be situated in the municipalities of Sabana Occidente, as well as 39.6 kilometers of railway, of which 14.7 kilometers will be in the urban area of Bogotá.
The COP3.4 trillion (US$1.05 billion) contract is anticipated to be awarded in December of this year, and the trains are expected to start operation in 2024.
