The Cambridgeshire County Council has issued a tender notice to relocate the Waterbeach Railway Station.

The project encompasses the establishment of a new railway station featuring two platforms, an accessible footbridge, a secondary means of escape (SME), a 200-space car park, designated areas for taxi and bus drop-off, bicycle storage, public spaces, and a new access road from Cody Road. Procurement activities involve appointing a main Contractor for the detailed design and construction of the scheme. Additionally, the project entails decommissioning and demolishing the current Waterbeach Railway Station. It is planned to transfer ownership, operation, and maintenance of the new station to Network Rail.

The current Station Facilities Operator (SFO) is Govia Thameslink Railway, operating under the Great Northern brand. The ES4 preliminary design has been finalized by WSP, serving as the Lead Designer. Sable Leigh Consultancy (SLC) has been designated as the 'Project Manager' and Client Representative on behalf of the Greater Cambridge Partnership (GCP). Volker Fitzpatrick has been engaged in Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) activities. Cambridgeshire County Council will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the new highway and car park. The deadline for this tender is August 23, 2024.
