Tender launched for USD500 million Road PPP project in Chile

The Ministry of Public Works in Chile has launched a tender notice seeking private partner for the development of a new highway Orbital Sur de Santiago in Chile. The route is a 24 km long highway connecting communes of Peñaflor, Calera de Tango, and San Bernardo forming a second ring of metropolitan road. The project is part of the National Infrastructure Plan for Mobility 2020-2050.

The private partner will be responsible for the development of the Costanera Norte del Maipo road section, 2 km long extension of Camino a Lonquén, a new uneven passage at the intersection of the Lonquén road with the Calera de Tango road, a new connection to the south with the Peñaflor district as well as provision of LED lighting in junction sectors, speed change lanes, local roads, intersections, walkways and the improvement of the existing cycle path on Camino Lonquén.

The new highway will provide links to five existing highways namely Route 78, South Connection with Peñaflor, Connection with Lonquén, Route 5 and South Access. The estimated investment value of the project is US$500 million with a concession period of 36 years.
