The Agency for the Promotion of Private Investment (PROINVERSIÓN) in Peru has announced the call for the comprehensive projects contest for the concession to the private sector for 500 kV Transmission Line Piura Nueva - Frontera Substation PPP project. The project will be procured on a design, finance, build, operate, and maintain basis with a concession period of 30 years.

The estimated investment value of the project is US$ 163.5 million. The project construction period is 40 months and it is scheduled to be awarded in the second quarter of 2021.

The project aims to establish electrical interconnection between Peru and Ecuador as part of the Peru - Ecuador interconnection plan. When the interconnection line comes into operation, there will be a security of electricity supply for both countries in cases of force majeure events such as earthquakes, floods, etc.
