Flemish government transport company “De Lijn" in Belgium has issued notice inviting private developers for the Spartacus line 1 tram project. Spartacus line 1 project includes design, build, finance and maintenance of fast tram connection between Hasselt Station and Maastricht Mosae Forum. Hasselt is a city located in northern Belgium and Maastricht is a city located in Southern tip of Netherlands. This tram route will also connect Diepenbeek, Bilzen and Lanaken. The project includes a close-knit public transport network that coordinates tram lines, express buses, city, and regional buses and train connections in Limburg.
The tram route between Hasselt and Maastricht will be approximately 30 km long, of which 27 km will be on the Flemish territory. The tram will run at a speed between 10 to 35 km/hour in the cities and a maximum of 100 km/hour outside the cities.
The maximum concession period is 36 years and minimum concession period for the maintenance is 8 years.
Deadline to submit a response for the tender is September 16, 2019.
