The Sambalpur Municipal Council is seeking private sector participation to improve the management of municipal solid waste (MSW) in the cities of Sambalpur, Burla and Hirakud and it has launched a Request for Qualifications for companies interested.
Meghraj Capital Advisors Private Limited is advising Sambalpur Municipal Corporation (SMC) in developing the project.
The concessionaire will provide the following services:
- Street sweeping and door-to-door collection of MSW from households, commercial activities and markets in Sambalpur, Burla and Hirakud and transportation to secondary collection points.
- Transportation of waste from the secondary collection points to the landfill site.
- Development of processing plant and sanitary landfill at the Jamadarpali site.
- Collection and transportation from the secondary collection points to the landfill site the grass/bush cutting waste and drainage cleaning waste collected by SMC, Burla NAC and Hirakud NAC.
- Design, construct, operate and maintain the Project facilities (which include the landfill facility and the processing facility).
- Close, cover and decommission the landfill site and provide post-closure activities for 5 years following its closure.
The concession period will be 20 years from the completion of the Project facilities.
Pre-Bid conferences will take place at the Sambalpur Municipal Office on 24th August 2013.
The Deadline for submission of qualification documents is 20 September 2013.
