The Municipality of Medellín in Colombia has launched the contractual process for the Metro de la 80 LRT concession.
The LRT will be 13.25 kilometers long connecting the north of Medellin city to Aguacatala station. Denoted as Ecocity line E, it will have 14 stops out of which 3 will be integrated with existing metro lines. The line will be operated via 20 trains.
The estimated investment value for the contract is COP1.7 billion (US$428.36 million). The project is being procured on the turnkey model including the provision of rolling stock, civil works, and design for phase three. The line will benefit around one million inhabitants residing in 38 neighborhoods of Medellin.
The authority expects to award the contract in July 2022. More information about this contract publication can be accessed here.
