The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has floated a tender inviting bids to develop a 74 km Peripheral Ring Road (PRR) in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.
The BDA has opted to implement the project using a design, build, finance, operate, and transfer (DBFOT) model. The PRR road will feature eight lanes, including a service road connecting to Bengaluru city. The infrastructure will encompass cloverleaf junctions, flyovers, underpasses, railway over bridges, railway under bridges, vehicular underpasses or overpasses, toll plazas, transport zones, culverts, minor and major bridges, and utility ducts along and across the road. Intended to alleviate traffic congestion in Bengaluru by facilitating seamless transit to suburban areas, the PRR will connect Tumkur Road and Hosur Road via routes through Hesaraghatta, Doddaballapur, Ballari, Hennur-Bagalur, Old Madras, Hoskote-Anekal, and Sarjapur. Since the inception of the PRR proposal in 2006, the project has faced significant challenges, particularly concerning land acquisition.
