The Government of Minas Gerais in Brazil has published a tender notice seeking a private partner for the Rodoanel Metropolitano concession. The scope of works involves the development of 3000 km of highway network in the state which will reduce around 1,000 accidents per year on Belo Horizonte's Ring Road. The project is divided into seven lots- Triângulo Mineiro, Sul de Minas, Varginha-Furnas, São João Del Rei, Itapecerica-Lagoa da Prata, Arcos-Patos de Minas, and Ouro Preto-Brumadinho Lot.
The private partner will be responsible for the expropriation of 3,000 properties, the construction of the Serra do Rola Moça tunnel, and the operation of an additional 100 km of the highway network. The estimated investment value of the project is BRL5 billion (US$917 million), out of which BRL3 billion (US$547.71 million) will be contributed by the state government, and the selected private partner will be responsible for financing remaining BRL2 billion (US$365.14 million).
