The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Green and Digital Economy (MICEVN) and the Millennium Challenge Account-Morocco Agency (MCA-Morocco) recently relaunched the related call for tenders the planning, development and management of two industrial parks located in the Casablanca-Settat region, according to a public-private partnership (PPP) model; the first launch having taken place in May 2020.
The call for tenders concerns the extension of an industrial zone in Had Soualem and the development of a new industrial zone in Sahel Lakhyayta. Spread over a total area of 111 ha, the two zones have been cleaned up and mobilized by the Government.
The 5-year program has a budget of US$450 million, granted by MCC, and at least an additional 15% provided by the Government of Morocco.
The industrial sites for these two projects, as well as the Bouznika industrial park project were identified on the basis of a set of criteria, mainly including demand, economic impact, financial viability, surface area and the absence of major risks. They will strengthen the supply of industrial land in the Casablanca-Settat Region meeting the needs of investors in terms of the quality of infrastructure and facilities and management standards, and will thus contribute to the increase in private investment and the job creation. Extending over a total area of nearly 136 ha, the three pilot industrial sites should eventually house 500 industrial companies for a total estimated investment of USD486 million and generate 27,000 direct jobs.
Private partner can bid for one or both of the projects. The deadline to submit the proposal is June 30, 2021.
