Ministry of Public Works in Chile has launched a tender notice seeking a private partner for the rehabilitation works for Chillán - Collipulli section of Route 5. The estimated contract value is US$425 million with concession period of 30 years. 

The private partner is expected to provide rehabilitation works for the existing infrastructure and new improvement works for Route 5, such as rectification of the route for a design speed of 120 km/hr (with specific restrictions), the extension to third tracks in 18.2 km and a variant to the city of Collipulli with express dual carriageway with two tracks in each direction as well as implementation of two new crossings to existing routes, new bridges, replacement of two interchanges and 34.4 kilometers of service roads. The concessionaire will also provide 16.4 km of bicycle lanes, 17 new footbridges, and the replacement of 19 pre-existing footbridges.
