U-Tapao International Airport Second Runway and Taxiways Project Management Unit (UTPRW-PMU) has invited bidders for the construction of the Second Runway and Taxiways at U-Tapao International Airport in Thailand.
The scope of the tender involves the construction of a second runway and taxiway, including the development of a 3,505-m by 60-m runway capable of accommodating all aircraft models. The new runway will be constructed parallel to the existing one, approximately 1,140 m away. The construction encompasses necessary earthworks, site preparation, taxiway, drainage system and structure, visual aid system, airfield ground lighting system, and a pump station.
The estimated procurement cost for this project is THB 15 billion (US$ 435 million), with funding from Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) loan covering 85% of the procurement cost and the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand providing a 15% counterpart fund. The government has sought a US$428.05 million loan from the AIIB for the U-Tapao International Airport Expansion Project, to utilize a portion of the funds for payments under the contract.
