Ministry of transportation - DGAC in France has launched a tender seeking O&M provider for two airport projects located in western France. The call for candidates is launched for the management of the Nantes-Atlantique and Saint-Nazaire Montoir airports after 2021, for a period of 30 to 40 years. The concessionaire will be responsible for:
1. designing, financing and carrying out the redevelopment work at the Nantes-Atlantique airport (NA). This work will consist mainly of the refurbishment and extension of the existing 400-meter track and the modernization and development of the site terminal to adapt to the evolution of air traffic. The cost of the initial refurbishment is estimated at EUR 450 million EUR (US$ 501.87 million);
2. the operation, development, renewal and maintenance of the airports of Nantes-Atlantique and Saint-Nazaire Montoir (SN).
NA's airport is open to public air traffic whose activity is mainly concerned with the transport of air passengers (6,200,000 air passengers in 2018) and with freight and leisure activities. SN airport is open to public air traffic whose activity is mainly freight transport in connection with industrial activities located nearby.
The estimated total value of the concession is between EUR 4.5 billion (USD 4.99 billion) and EUR 7 billion (USD 7.77 billion) excluding VAT with concession duration assumptions ranging from 30 to 40 years.
On October 24, 2019 the Government of France has terminated the 55-year concession agreement for the airports of Notre-Dame-des-Landes, Nantes-Atlantique and Saint-Nazaire - Montoir with the company Aéroports du Grand Ouest which was awarded in December 2010. Aéroports du Grand Ouest was composed of Vinci Airports (85%), in partnership with Nantes Saint-Nazaire CCI (10%) and Entreprise of Public Works of West Cife-ETPO (5%).
