The deputy governor of the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) has publicly stated that the tender for a light rail PPP in Phuket will be launched in the third quarter of 2019.
The THB34 billion (US$1.07 billion) project involves the development of a 58.5km light rail line, running from Tha Noon in Phangnga province to the Chalong intersection in the south of Phuket.
The tender launch is dependent on the Cabinet's approval of the project, expected in mid-2019. The winner will be granted a 30-year concession from 2023 to run the line.
