Tender for US$440 million London Cancer Hub to be launched next year

The London Borough of Sutton (LBS) has announced that it is planning to launch a tender for a development partner for The London Cancer Hub early next year.

The Hub is envisaged as a world-leading cancer innovation centre, which will draw on the pedigree of the adjacent Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) and The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, a cancer treatment specialist. It will provide opportunities for scientists, clinicians, and innovative companies to come together in a world-class community.

The Hub will be developed across a 4.5-hectare site within The London Cancer Campus in south-west London. The Campus extends to 21 hectares and includes land owned by ICR and The Royal Marsden.

The site has the potential to accommodate up to 100,000m2 of space and will enable private enterprises to locate within the Campus, furthering collaboration with the internationally renowned institutional anchors.

The responsibilities of the selected development partner include all masterplanning, design and planning activities; raising of development finance; procurement of third party contractors and supply chain management; and marketing the Hub to attract occupiers.

The estimated total investment required is GBP350 million (US$439.6 million).

LBS intends to publish the formal contract notice for the project towards the end of January 2019.
