The Minister of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) has announced that an International Public Tender is underway for the rehabilitation of route PY05, in the Pozo Colorado-Concepción section.

This project, which will be financed with resources from the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF), is part of the “Program for the Rehabilitation and Maintenance of Paved Routes by Service Levels – Road 3”. It is divided into two strategic lots:

  • Lot A of 53.3 km from 318.9 km to 372.2 km, and
  • Lot B of 36.2 km from 372.2 km to 409.1 km, totaling 90.2 km of rehabilitation.

Each lot has a 20-month execution period from the signing of the contract, following technical specifications based on the Paraguay Highway Manual 2019 and updated regional regulations. The main items to be executed include earthworks, structural package, drainage and bridges, culverts, complementary works, signage, railings and parapets, services and environmental management. The choice of rigid pavement offers advantages such as greater durability, less maintenance, high resistance to heavy loads, better load distribution, greater road safety and less environmental impact. This rehabilitation represents a significant advance in the country's road infrastructure, promising a safer, more durable and more efficient route for users of PY05,

The call has an estimated amount of PYG 472 billion (USD 60 million). Interested companies must submit their offers by October 17, 2024.
