The tender process for the Magdalena River PPP project is planned to start in September 2021, once the Ministry of Finance (MHCP) and the National Planning Department (DNP) approve the future periods.
The project involves the development of a river waterway to connect Barrancabermeja and Bocas de Ceniza in Colombia, with the aim to improve navigability between these two areas. The total investment in the project is estimated at COP1.4 trillion (US4358.18 million), while the concession period will be 15 years.
The authority plans to sign a concession contract by 2022, so construction work could begin at the end of 2022. The construction will take about 4 years to complete and involves the development of 19 functional units, including dredging, docks, mooring issues, and other works.
