The Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications of the government of Bulgaria has announced that the Commission responsible for overseeing the tender of Sofia Airport has recommended a 30-day extension to the tender deadline.
This is due to questions from interested parties which are expected to result in to changes in the tender documents and in particular in the draft concession agreement. A Notice of Amendment and the corresponding amendments to the tender documents (including the draft concession agreement) will be announced shortly.
The Ministry launched the tender in July. The contract notice details that the concession will cover management and operation of a 5km2 area including all buildings, facilities and visual air navigation systems, as well as the construction of a third terminal.
The estimated value of the concession is just under EUR3.5 billion (US$4.08 billion). The original deadline to submit applications and offers was 22 October 2018.
