The government of São Tomé and Príncipe has launched the Deepwater Port project in Fernão Dias at the end of last year. The port will be located in the Lobata district, north of São Tomé. It will feature at least one multipurpose terminal and will have the capacity to receive ships of up to 30,000 tons with possibilities of future expansion. The procurement of the project will be done on Design, Build, Finance and Operate (DBFO) basis.
The deadline to submit the response to tender was January 20, 2020.
The project has an estimated investment of US$ 500-800 million.
