Rail Baltica has issued a tender for the procurement of construction of the first stage of the Ülemiste terminal building in Tallinn, Estonia.
The selected partner will be responsible for the construction procurement of more than 8 km of new 1,520 mm gauge railways after demolishing nearly 16.3 km of existing tracks. The design work for the Ülemiste railway infrastructure was carried out by OU Reaalprojekt and OU Allspark. The author and designer of the architectural solution of the Ülemiste terminal are Zaha Hadid Architects and Esplan OU.
The construction permits for the execution of the works have already been issued and the majority of the railway construction is expected to be completed during 2024, however, the contractual works are expected to continue into 2026. The preferred bidder is expected to be announced by the end of the year to start the construction works in Spring 2023. The construction works are planned to last until Q3 2026.
The estimated cost of the tender is EUR66.5 million (US$69.06 million). The deadline to submit the response is January 5, 2023.
