Saudi Arabia’s Water & Electricity Company (SWPC) has shortlisted 10 consortia to bid for the development of the Yanbu 4 Independent Water Treatment Plant.
The facility is expected to have a net potable water capacity of 450,000 m3/day, using reverse osmosis seawater desalination technology. The IWP will be located in Ar Ray yis, located 140km west of Madinah, and will be powered by electricity from the high voltage grid.
The winning developer will sell its capacity and output to SWPC with a water purchase agreement under a concession of 25 years.
The 10 pre-qualified consortia are :
WEC has appointed Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation as financial advisor; DLA Piper Middle East as Legal advisor and ILF Consulting Engineers as Technical advisor for the project.
