The City Hall of Jaboatão dos Guararapes in Brazil has signed an advisory agreement with National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) and International Finance Corporation (IFC) to promote the expansion and modernization of the municipality's primary health system.
BNDES and IFC will carry out technical studies for modeling, structuring and implementing a project to improve the infrastructure of 32 primary health care units in the municipality, using the public-private partnership (PPP) model. Consultants will analyze all aspects of the project, including technical, financial, environmental and social, regulatory and legal, as well as carry out market research.
The PPP project foresees investments estimated at BRL150 million (US$29.28 million) by the private partner in the first years of the PPP, and approximately BRL600 million (US$117.13 million) in expenses with non-clinical services provided during the term of the contract, such as building maintenance, concierge, cleaning and surveillance.
