Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx have selected the HDR-led team to serve as technical advisor for the approximately CAD 10.9 billion (USD 8.1 billion) Ontario Line in Toronto.

This project includes the development of 16km free-standing subway line, connecting Ontario Place/Exhibition through downtown Toronto to the Ontario Science Centre. the line will feature 15 proposed stations, including six interchange stations adding 17 new connections to GO Transit, existing subways and streetcars. The link is expected to accommodate nearly 400,000 daily boardings. The project will be implemented using a public-private partnership (PPP) model.

Building a new subway line through the downtown core of the most populous city in Canada is complex. As a technical advisor, HDR and its primary partners — Mott MacDonald, Stantec, Systra and Comtech — will provide a wide range of planning, engineering, environmental, design and construction oversight services with the goal of successful, timely project delivery.

Initial planning and design work has already begun for the Ontario Line. This assignment will add to HDR’s already extensive transit portfolio, including iconic projects in Los Angeles, New York, Seattle, Dallas, Honolulu, Denver and more.
