The Société de Transport de l'Outaouais (STO) has awarded the contract to SYSTRA Canada, for professional, technical and multidisciplinary services for the Gatineau-Ottawa tramway project.
The 24-km tramway will connect downtown Gatineau to Ottawa, Canada's capital. Groupe Porteur, in collaboration with Richez_Associés and Provencher Roy, is contributing to this significant public transit initiative. The project will unfold in three phases: technical and environmental studies, procurement, and construction supervision, culminating in commissioning tests.
Key details of the Gatineau-Ottawa tramway include a 24 km route, with 22 km in Quebec and 2 km in Ontario, forming a Y-shaped layout with a 10.5 km south branch and a 7.5 km north branch. The project features 37 stations, and 4 multimodal hubs, and is expected to be operational by 2035.
