The Malaysian transport ministry has said that the feasibility study on the proposed Trans-Borneo Railway project linking Sabah and Sarawak to Indonesia will be completed in August 2025.
The feasibility study for the Trans Borneo Railway Project connecting Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei, and Kalimantan, Indonesia is in its final evaluation stage. This study is anticipated to begin in August 2024 and will last for 12 months, concluding in August 2025. Brunergy Utama Sdn Bhd, a Brunei-based company, will implement the MYR 330 billion (US$70 billion) project in two phases, covering a route of over 1,600 km with trains capable of reaching speeds up to 350 kph. The proposed project aims to improve connectivity and enhance logistics, especially with Indonesia’s new capital, Nusantara.
