The New South Ministry of Health has announced that Structural work is complete on the marquee development within the Randwick Health & Innovation Precinct, the AU$ 600 million (US$ 390 million) UNSW Health Translation Hub in Sydney, Australia.
The 35,000 sqm UNSW Health Translation Hub, developed by Plenary in collaboration with UNSW Sydney, is designed to unite researchers, clinicians, educators, industry leaders, and public health professionals. This initiative aims to advance research and education, translating innovative findings into enhanced patient care and community health outcomes. The hub will foster interdisciplinary collaboration across UNSW and healthcare institutions, providing students with opportunities to engage directly with researchers on real-world cases.
The project is financed by Plenary alongside ISPT, a property investor supported by industry superannuation funds, including HESTA and UniSuper. UNSW has committed to a 20-year lease for two-thirds of the facility, focusing on teaching, research, and community engagement. Key subtenants include the Minderoo Children’s Comprehensive Cancer Centre (MCCCC) and The George Institute for Global Health. Research at the hub will emphasize personalized medicine, advanced therapeutics, health equity, dementia, aging, mental health, and cancer, fostering interdisciplinary student engagement and collaboration with industry, clinical experts, and the public.
The remaining 10,000 sqm of space offers opportunities for industry partners to collaborate with the university, creating a hub for innovation in education, business, research, and health. Located next to the new Prince of Wales Hospital Acute Services Building, the facility is directly connected to UNSW’s Kensington campus, the future Sydney Children’s Hospital, and the Minderoo Children’s Comprehensive Cancer Centre, which is set to open in 2025. This integrated precinct will establish itself as a leader in global health research and education, with project completion expected by Q3 2025.
