The Welsh government has received lots of responses to its market engagement initiative for the Welsh Tidal Lagoon Challenge. Published in March, the prior information notice (PIN) invited interested developers and suppliers to express their interest in a tidal range energy project on the Welsh coastline. The responses will be reviewed by authorities to determine the next steps in designing the project and in the procurement process.

The purpose of the released PIN is to understand the most appropriate approach to the competition and the support package that will be offered by the government. If the project continues, the selected partner will deliver a tidal lagoon capable of generating electricity, with possible financial support from the Welsh government.
