Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners and Poseidon Water have launched the sale of Carlsbad Desalination Plant located in California, USA, with an information memorandum document issued to interested bidders.
Opened in December 2015, the desalination facility is the largest, most technologically advanced and energy-efficient seawater desalination plant in the USA. Each day, the plant delivers nearly 50 million gallons (56,000 acre-feet per year (AFY)) of fresh, desalinated water to San Diego County – enough to serve approximately 400,000 people and accounting for about one-third of all water generated in the area.
The plant has a 30-year offtake agreement with San Diego County Water.
The purchase price, including assumption of debt, is expected to exceed US$1 billion.
