South Tees Development Corporation (STDC), a government-owned corporation of UK, has launched a request for qualification (RFQ) tender for 50:50 joint-venture development of a high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission project in South Teesside.
The selected partner will und, develop, operate, and maintain a high voltage electricity network across the South Tees site. This includes all such ancillary and supports works, goods, and services as may be required to deliver the project. It shall underwrite all funding required to deliver electrical infrastructure across the site. As part of the project, STDC intends to also consider the option for an electricity retail service through the purchase of power from a licensed electricity supplier and the resale of that electricity to the site customers and the supply of electricity to South Tees Site Company.
The initial agreement between the contracting authority and the selected partner will be 40 years. SDTC reserves the right to extend the term of the joint venture for a period of up to five years beyond the initial contract.
The deadline for the submission of documents to participate in the tender is on August 28, 2020.
