Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries in South Korea has selected SK Group to develop hydrogen port complex stations in the southern ports of the country.
SK Group will lead the development of a hydrogen energy ecosystem, that will facilitate storage, import and export, supply, consumption and utilization of the fuel. The group will establish three stations near the ports of Yeosu, Gwangyang and Pyeongtaek-Dangjin by 2023.
South Korea aims to supply more than 60% of the hydrogen needs through port complexes by 2040. The hydrogen ports will convert hydrogen fuel for port mobility and ships as well as provide a base to produce blue hydrogen. After the implementation of these three hydrogen complexes, the authority is planning to expand the ecosystem to ports of Busan, Incheon and Ulsan.
