South Australia has launched a request for expression of interest (RFEOI) seeking a private partner to develop mining, energy, and related industrial development projects at a site located near Port Bonython. The project involves the development of export hubs for both green and blue hydrogen as well as related economy-boosting projects at a 2000 hectares site that hosts Santos’ processing plant. The plant receives natural gas liquids and crude oil piped 659km from the Moomba plant for export and a diesel fuel import and storage terminal.
The site is accessible to multiple renewable energy zones and has a passage to an existing deepwater port comprising a 2.4km long jetty, which is due to be upgraded soon. These projects are expected to create economic growth and regional development on the Eyre Peninsula.
The deadline to submit the interest is June 29, 2021. The selected private partner will be responsible to complete developments within 5 years. For more information about this RFEOI, please visit our business opportunities page here.
