The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) of Paraguay has announced the completion of the construction of the Heroes del Chaco bridge public-private partnership (PPP) project.
The bridge is 130 m high and connects Asunción with the Paraguayan Chaco, thus changing the history of connectivity of Paraguay. The Heroes del Chaco Bridge will speed up the passage of approximately 10,000 vehicles per day, enhancing domestic and regional connectivity, including with Argentina. The scope of work under this project includes a 7 km long access road that connects the Costanera Norte de Asunción to the roundabout on the route between Falcón and Remanso, a 1,500 m of access viaduct on the right bank (Chaco'i), and 500 m of access viaduct on the left bank (Costanera Norte).
After the commissioning of the bridge, the construction of the main deck, voussoirs and the placement of struts can continue without interruption. The construction of Apoyo 51 on the Asuncion side is planned to be completed by February 2023.
