Société Autoroutière du Gabon (SAG) has inaugurated a 16 km dual carriageway between Nkok and Ntoum in Gabon.

With the opening of this new road, 81 km of the Route Nationale 1 (RN1) between PK 24 and PK 105, connecting Libreville and Franceville, is now accessible. The section involved extensive drainage work and construction of structures to prevent flooding and ensure year-round passability and safety. These improvements reduce maintenance needs and enhance road durability despite heavy traffic.

This project is part of a public-private partnership (PPP) established in 2021 between the Gabonese government and Meridiam, with Société Autoroutière du Gabon as the delegated contracting authority. The entire first section (93 km) is set for completion by the end of 2024.
