French railway company SNFC has signed an agreement with the Comsa group to acquire all the capital of the Spanish railway freight company, Comsa Rail Transport, of which it already owned 25% of shares.
With this agreement Comsa Corporación will transfer all the shares of its subsidiary Comsa Rail Transport in favor of the SNCF Logistics division of the French group. It is a transaction that must be approved by the Spanish competition authority and that will not entail any change in the business model or the strategy followed by the company, which will be called Captrain Spain but will keep its current address.
Comsa Rail Transport has increased its turnover by 70% in five years, reaching an amount of €32 million with a staff of about 200 people. Captrain Spain will continue to manage freight traffic by rail between Portugal and Spain, with the Portuguese partner Takargo, while SNCF will continue to ensure the growth of the company in the peninsula market.
