Six proposals submitted for Shuqaiq 3 IWP in Saudi Arabia
Water & Electricity L.L.C, the agency responsible for the sale and purchase of water and electricity and all required ancillary activities in Saudi Arabia, has received six responses to the Request for Proposals for Shuqaiq 3 Independent Water Project (IWP) issued in March 2018.
The project involves the development, financing, engineering, procurement, construction, implementation, operation and maintenance of a 380,000 m3/day desalination plant with reverse osmosis technology. The plant is to be located in the city of Shuqaiq, on the Red Sea coast, approximately 137km north of the city of Jazan.
The RFP was issued to fifteen pre-qualified companies and consortia. The six final bidders are:
- Veolia, Marafiq, Alamwal Alkhaleejiah Althaniya
- Aqualia, Nesma, Haaco
- Marubeni, Acciona, Abdullatif Jameel, Rawafid
- Engie, Mitsubishi, SSEM, Metito
- Acwa Power, Albabtain Contracting, Saudi Brothers Co
- Cobra, Orascom, Alblagha Investment
The successful bidder will be awarded a 25-year concession agreement, and will sell the output of the plant to WEC under a water purchase agreement.
