Six companies qualified for $556 million Cusco airport concession in Peru

According to local sources, Daniel Maraví, Manager of Economic Development of Cusco Regional Government, said that so far 32 companies have shown interest for the tender process for the design, construction, financing, operation and maintenance of the new International Airport of Chinchero - Cusco, in Peru.

Twenty one companies have bought tender documents and only six of them have been qualified for the project by Proinversion.

Daniel Maraví confirmed that he had a meeting with Proinversion officials to discuss the progress being done for the project. He also said the project will be awarded according to schedule. There will be a preferred bidder for the project on December 23rd, 2013.

The total investment amount for the project (including future extensions) is US$ 556 million (VAT not included). The required investment to start operations is US$ 433 million (VAT not included).

The concession contract will have a period of 40 years.

On February 2nd, 2010, the Ministry of Transport and Communications required Proinversion to release a call for tender to grant in concession the construction and operation of the New International Airport, which will be located in Cusco Region, province of Urubamba, district of Chinchero.
