The Land Transport Authority (LTA) in Singapore has awarded the contract for the first phase of the Cross Island Line (CRL) mass transit rail to the joint venture (JV) of Gammon Infrastructure and Soletanche Bachy. The first phase of the project will see the development of a 29 km-long underground railway line from Aviation Park to Bright Hill with 12 stations. The concessionaire will also be responsible for the extension of Ang Mo Kio station that will facilitate multi-modal intersection.
The estimated investment value for the project is US$471 million. Once complete, the first phase of CRL will serve residential and industrial areas such as Loyang, Tampines, Pasir Ris, Defu, Hougang, Serangoon North, and Ang Mo Kio.
CRL involves 50 kilometers long underground line that will serve existing and future developments in the eastern, western, and north-eastern corridors, connecting major hubs such as Jurong Lake District, Punggol Digital District, and Changi region. The project is divided into three phases.
