The State Government of Victoria received a huge amount of responses as a part of the Registration of Interest (ROI) for the fast rail PPP project in Geelong. In total, more than 70 international, national and local organizations had flagged interest in building or financing stage one of Geelong Fast Rail. Registered organizations include those in the fields of construction, engineering and rail systems, as well as specialties in architecture and finance.
The Geelong Fast Rail project connects Geelong and Melbourne’s CBD and consists of two stages. Phase 1 construction includes a new track between Werribee and Laverton and is expected to commence in 2023. A total of AUD4 billion (US$3,103 million) has been allocated towards the project, comprising AUD2 billion (US$ 1,5 billion) each from the Victorian and Commonwealth governments.
Published on February 2021, the ROI is still open for interested businesses and specialist suppliers. More information can be found here.
