The Government of Bangladesh has canceled the Flyover Shantinagar to Dhaka-Mawa (Jhilmil) road project.
The decision came during a meeting when the cabinet committee on economic affairs approved a proposal to cancel the project. The four-lane flyover project was proposed under public-private partnership (PPP) and involved the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the road. It also included land acquisition, utility shifting as well as the construction of roads and the 4th Buriganga Bridge.
According to the government, the project's perspective does not exist anymore. However, the development might be restarted, if the government finds an ideal PPP partner.
