The University of Crete has announced that seven (7) companies submitted bids for the student housing project. This is the largest infrastructure project ever made in a Greek university. It envisages, in the form of a Public-Private Partnership (PPP), the construction of 3,000 student residences as well as the completion of the Grand Amphitheater at the University of Rethymnon. Specifically, it anticipates the construction of a complex of 2,000 student residences in the French University Campus in Rethymnon and 1,000 student residences in the Heraklion Campus.
The term of the contract will be 30 years (3 years of construction and 27 years of operation). During this period the contractor will be responsible for the maintenance, cleanliness, maintenance, and insurance of the premises.
