Airports Authorities of India (AAI) has received bids from seven bidders for privatization of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport in Gujarat. The AAI will now proceed with the evaluation of the  technical proposal. According to sources, financial proposals will be opened on February 25, after which the winning bidder will be selected.

Proposals for the privatization involve the operation, management and development the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport. The companies which submited bids comprised Adani Enterprises Limited, Sydney, Australia-based AMP Capital Investors (UK) Limited, Autostrade, GMR Airports Limited, I Investments Ltd, PNC Infrastructure Ltd and Sanna Enterprises.

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has attracted several interested companies to its plans to privatize six airports under PPP scheme. The authority launched tenders in December for operation and maintenance concessions for the Lucknow Airport in Uttar Pradesh, Jaipur Airport in Rajasthan, Mangaluru Airport in Karnataka, Ahmedabad Airport in Gujarat, Guwahati Airport in Assam, and the Trivandrum International Airport in Kerala. The redevelopment of the six airports is expected to attract investment of about US$1.4 billion.
