The Ministry of Public Works of Chile has announced that the Environmental Assessment Service (Servicio de Evaluación Ambiental, SEA) published the Resolution on Environmental Qualification (RCA) of the Américo Vespucio Oriente Highway Príncipe de Gales-Los Presidentes (AVO II) project in Chile.
The 5.2 km section of the highway with an investment of USD804.9 million will run underground through the communes La Reina, Ñuñoa, Peñalolén and Macul and will complete the construction of the Américo Vespucio ring road. The project will move 50% of the traffic to the sections of Américo Vespucio between Av. Príncipe de Gales and Los Presidentes to a mostly underground urban highway, which will reduce the travel time by land transport to 5 minutes.
The construction of AVO II provides for the creation of four city attractions in Tobalaba-Principe de Gales, Plaza Egaña, Rotonda Grecia and south of Rotonda Grecia and the creation of approximately 30,000 jobs. Construction of the project could start in the first half of 2023.
