The Scottish Government has launched the re-privatization and sale of the Glasgow Prestwick Airport.
The international airport, located in Prestwick in South Ayrshire, was re-acquired by the government in 2013 for GBP1 only in order to prevent it from closure. Since then, the airport is reported to have accumulated GBP50 million (US$63.4 million) of debt.
The Scottish Government has announced that the airport will be advertised for sale in the Official Journal of the European Union and will invite expressions of interest in the business.
