The Water & Electricity Company (WEC) of Saudi Arabia has relaunched its request for expressions of interest for the development of Yanbu phase 4 independent water producer (IWP) project located on the Red Sea coast.
The desalination project will use reverse osmosis (RO) seawater desalination technology that can generate up to 450,000cu/m per day of potable water. It will be installed near the town of Ar Rayyis (140 km west of Madinah), on Saudi’s Red Sea coast.
WEC is seeking interested companies for the development, financing, procurement, implementation, operation and maintenance of the desalination plant, together with associated infrastructure and facilities. The project comes with a 25-year concession term for a water purchase agreement with WEC.
