The City Hall of São Paulo has opened a period of public consultation for the Social Housing PPP project in Brazil. The aim is to gather contributions from the local public and potentially interested parties to improve the proposals.
The project involves the construction of three housing complexes for social rental. They will be implemented on municipal land, located in the districts of Bom Retiro, Sé and Pari, totaling the offer of 1,750 social houses. The social complexes are designed for the mixed-use, with the availability of spaces on the ground floor for commercial purposes. In addition, the concessionaire will be responsible for providing housing services, such as the formalization of lease contracts, rental collection, supply of appliances, building maintenance, as well as the conservation of common areas.
The concession will be awarded through an international competition, in which one of the criteria is the lowest consideration to be paid by the City Hall. The maximum limit is BRL32 million (US$5.6 million) per year. The contract will be awarded for 35 years, and the houses must be available within four years after signing.
