The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) has announced the Request for Proposal (RFP) for the Portero Yard Modernization Project. Only the qualified bidders can participate in this tender stage and prepare proposals to design, build, finance and maintain a new Potrero Yard. The three teams moving forward are Potrero Mission Community Partners, Potrero Neighborhood Collective and Potrero Yard Community Partners, and they will have about 5 months to prepare a proposal.

The project will replace the obsolete two-story maintenance building and bus yard with a modern, three-story, efficient bus maintenance and storage garage. The RFP also includes expanding Muni Metro East (MME) to accommodate bus operations and maintenance while Potrero Yard is under construction.

SFMTA has received approval for Prop K funding from the San Francisco County Transportation Authority to continue planning the Potrero Yard Modernization Project. In addition, the Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) is expected to be available for public comment in summer 2021.
