ProInversión, the private investment promotion agency of Peru, has announced that the Ministry of Transport and Communications and the company Salaverry Terminal Internacional S.A. have signed the concession contract for the modernization and development of the multipurpose terminal at Salaverry Port, located in La Libertad.
The concessionaire will now assume responsibility for executing all port services related to both container and bulk cargo, serving both exporters and importers.
The planned modernization works for the terminal will require an investment of US$229 million. The term of the concession is 30 years.
Salaverry Terminal Internacional S.A. is owned by Tramarsa and Naviera Tramarsa, which belong to Peruvian conglomerate Grupo Romero. The group won the concession by offering a 10% discount on standard cargo service fees and special refrigeration service for containers.
