Rwanda-Burundi-Tanzania track being built on schedule

The Ministry of Infrastructure of Rwanda has announced that work on the Rwanda-Burundi-Tanzania Standard Gauge Railway was progressing on schedule. The works are part of the DIKKM railway project.

According to the project, the DIKKM railway will be 494 km long with a 197 km branch line. The project also includes upgrading the railway line from Dar es Salaam (DSM) to Isaka and constructing a new line from Isaka (Tanzania) to Kigali (Rwanda) and from Keza to Musongati via Gitega in Burundi.

The start of construction is scheduled for Q2 2017 and is subject to the submitted proposals.
