The Ministry of Economic Development of Russia is set to launch the sale of a 1.17% stake in the national airline carrier, Aeroflot.
The state owns 51.17% in the carrier, while 35.7% are held by institutional investors. State technology agency, Rostech, controls 3.5% in Aeroflot while the remaining 5.1% is owned by private investors, 4.3% by a treasury stake, and 0.1% is held by the management of Aeroflot.
The deal is likely to be supported by the Finance Ministry, however, it raised opposition from the Ministry of Transportation. Once the deal is closed, the state ownership in the company will be reduced to 50%.
