The government of Rio de Janeiro has launched a tender process for consultants for the expansion of Rio's subway, in the stretch Gávea - Carioca.
The government plans to get the full basic design of the project and the preliminary environmental licenses. The selected consultants will also conduct the feasibility studies and select a procurement method for the project.
The deadline for submission of proposals is June 3rd, 2014. The studies will be submitted in a period of eight months.

Paraná state capital Curitiba announced also in April it is planning to launch a tender process for a 35-year concession to build and operate Curitiba's new metro through a Public private partnership contract.
In March, Rio Grande do Sul and the city of Porto Alegre signed a collaboration with the BNDES to get support from the national bank for the Porto Alegre subway project.
